Hosted by Spencer Jenkins (Founder and Exective Director of Queer Kentucky) Sarah Gardiner (Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Nanny Goat Press), Beards and Lavender honors the age-old tradition of gays and lesbians standing together—married in our mutual trauma and trust. We laugh together, we cry together, and we share urinal-cake-scented bathrooms at queer bars. We’ve probably even made out a few times. While society may have told us that Gays and Lesbians have become the oil and water of the queer community, our longstanding history of covering for each other, fighting for each other, and loving one another outweighs our media portrayal.

Urinal Cakes & Bathroom Buds

Season 2, Episode 1 In this episode, Sarah and Spencer discuss the intersectional past and present shared by gays and lesbians. Discussion centers around the unrequited aid lesbians showed gay men during the AIDS crises, the phenomenon of Lavender Marriages, and what it meant to “have a beard” in the 20th century. Sit back, relax, and listen to two queers awkwardly gush about their platonic – but still very, very queer – love for each other. www.queerkentucky.com www.nannygoat.press IG, Twitter, Facebook: @queerkentucky
